CIMA Sri Lanka began life as an Associate of the Cost and Works Accountants UK, back in 1965. Throughout the intervening years, the division has grown in parallel with advances in the corporate world. It has maintained a high level of activity and has confirmed management accountancy as one of the most respected professions in the country today. Due to the exponential growth of the profession, CIMA Sri Lanka now has over 2,000 resident members and 13,000 students and they are widely represented in senior management positions in industry, commerce and finance.
Student Services Unit
Students are the members and business leaders of tomorrow and CIMA provides support at each stage of a CIMA student's development. The Student Services unit is responsible for looking into the wide spectrum of duties related with student recruitment until a registered student becomes an Associate member of the Institute. We operate to support our existing students and also work towards getting prospective students on board. The most important function of the Student Services unit is providing customer service for Students and Members with regard to queries ranging from student registrations, examinations, membership & subscription to issuing of academic transcripts and letters of goodstanding to students and members.
Study & Career Support
We also offer numerous services for students such as revision lectures, career development and guidance programmes, student training scheme, membership workshops to encourage Passed Finalist conversions, seminars on examination techniques, programmes on soft skills development and also organises key events such as the bi-annual Convocation for Passed Finalists and new Members. We also support the activities of the CIMA Students' Society, an extremely vibrant and dynamic body.
Job Bank
To encourage students to take up employment while studying, the Division maintains a data bank of student and passed finalist CVs that is accessed by prospective employers. Updated with new details every six months, this is a very popular service amongst students and employers. The Job Bank receives applications from CIMA students who wish to qualify for their practical training requirement. When an employer requests for a trainee, the Job Bank centre matches the requirement with the available data in the Bank, and thereby facilitates an employer-trainee interview.
